The Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, recently had a courtesy call from Prof. Gutti Babagana, the vice-chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU), and his management team. The visit's objectives were to discuss important issues and lay out the institution's plan for long-term growth.

By enabling communication and attending to the needs of higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education acts as an essential liaison between the state government and these establishments. The significance of this function is highlighted by BOSU's visit.

Prof. Gutti thanked the commissioner during the meeting for his continuous assistance in bolstering BOSU. He offered a thorough five-year development plan intended to build on past successes and solve important

In order to accommodate the university's expanding student body, the plan calls for building permanent locations for faculties that are now functioning temporarily, renovating facilities for current programs, and establishing new faculties.

Prof. Gutti emphasized continuous attempts to obtain backing from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). He mentioned that some projects were already under progress and that funding that had been requested through the commissioner had been awarded. He expressed concern about important infrastructural deficiencies in spite of these advancements, including the absence of a firefighting vehicle, a weak water supply, and subpar drainage systems.

In response, Commissioner Wakilbe praised Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his visionary leadership in promoting the education sector and thanked Prof. Gutti and his management team for their commitment.

In light of his previous visits to BOSU, the commissioner underlined the value of holding convocations to highlight the school's achievements and draw in new students.
Aware of the spike in student enrollment, Wakilbe emphasized the need for infrastructure expansion and asked the university to look into other funding options in order to satisfy its rising needs. Along with announcing intentions to visit BOSU in the next academic session to discuss additional strategic initiatives, he also appreciated the efforts made by prior administrations in setting the school up for success.
