 The Nigeria Immigration Service which is commonly known as  (NIS) is a governmental organistaion which was charged with the accountability of migration management system in Nigeria.

In the previous years, the Nigerian immagiration service  has made a series of modifications since it was move out from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 1958. Which the name was The Immigration Department as it was in the previous years at nigerian police force and  the core immigration duties which was under the headship of the Chief Federal Immigration Officer (CFIO) and the first person to which has become the boss of the immagiration service was in the person of Mr. EH Harrison. The nigerian immagiration service department in its emergent stages takover the Immigration Ordinance of 1958 for its operation. At foundation, the department had a limited operational opportunity and also maintained a low profile and simple process approach  in order to attaining the desired goals and objectives of government.
