About Action Against Hunger
Action against Hunger is an international humanitarian organization committed to the fight against hunger in the world. For nearly 40 years, in nearly 50 countries, we have been working to fight malnutrition and support communities affected by crises around the world.
We implement innovative and vital programmes in the areas of health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, disaster risk reduction, mental health and care practices, food security and livelihoods, as well as social protection.
Action Against Hunger began its operations in Nigeria in 2010 in response to the high rate of chronic malnutrition in the north of the country, focusing on integrated programming.
In 2011, we expanded our activities to start implementing nutritional development projects in Jigawa and Yobe states. Following the crises in north-eastern Nigeria, we have expanded our operations to meet the needs in nutrition, health, food security and livelihoods, water, sanitation and shelter of communities affected by conflicts.
The Action Program against Hunger in Nigeria is supported by the FCDO, ECHO, GAC, BHA, SDC, UNICEF, the EU, AFD, SIDA and the GFFO.
Currently, Action contre la Faim is looking for a Monitoring and Evaluation Manager who will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the monitoring and evaluation plan for the RRM WASH programs, including monitoring progress against planned activities, critical milestones and objectives, as well as providing support and advice to program managers and the Chief of Security (CSO)/government partners to ensure that data collection, data management and reporting are of the highest possible quality.

"Main Responsibilities :
- Contribute to the design of the program's monitoring and evaluation tools (registers, report templates, databases, etc.) to monitor WASH projects.
- Collaborate with WASH stakeholders and relevant ACF staff to ensure timely data collection, compilation and reporting in accordance with the program monitoring and evaluation plan.
- Analyze data monthly and write monthly program monitoring reports.
- Maintain regular updating of the program database.
- Help organize feedback meetings of the program with communities, institutions and authorities.
- Assist the MEAL Manager in the implementation of the data quality assurance system, including the performance of data quality assessments according to the monitoring and evaluation plan.
- Support the MEAL Manager in the management of data for evaluations, analyzes, surveys, evaluations and other necessary research.
- Plan, forecast and supervise the production and supply of monitoring and evaluation tools and materials to the supported sites.
- Assist the MEAL Manager in the follow-up of WASH projects in all target communities and communicate the conclusions to the Program Managers.
- Participate in the evaluation of WASH projects, with an emphasis on the management of evaluation data sets.
- Promote the use of evaluation and research reports and propose improvements to the WASH team.
- Facilitate the coordination of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reviews and reports of WASH projects, as required.
- Regularly share information about the program with communities, beneficiaries and stakeholders through a feedback mechanism.
- Manage the database of complaints and feedback from beneficiaries.
- Regularly update the shared storage spaces and the program monitoring documents in the project team space.
Job Requirements :
Interested candidate who are willing to applied for the position of monitoring and evaluation officer must have the following requirement
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Rural Development, Business Administration, Statistics, Demography or related field, with previous experience in humanitarian projects.
- 2 to 3 years of previous experience with local or international NGOs.
- Previous experience in WASH, Nutrition and Health projects.
- Proficiency in MS Excel or other statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, ODK.
- Fluency in English, Hausa and Kanuri.
- Ability to work in partnership with government and development partners.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Independence, adaptability and flexibility.
- Excellent communication skills, especially report writing."
