Role Purpose:
The Information Management Officer (IMO) plays a key technical role in maintaining, reviewing, and developing an effective information management system that integrates data from multiple sources. The IMO is tasked with supporting the development and strengthening of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems. They assist in the creation and execution of annual MEAL plans, the development and adaptation of MEAL tools, and provide training to staff, communities, and partners in essential MEAL concepts and skills. The role also involves documenting and disseminating key learnings from MEAL activities and research, ensuring projects remain accountable to beneficiaries and other stakeholders in line with LABDI and donor policies and best practices.Scope of Role:
- Reports to: MEAL Manager
- Works with: Program team and MEAL staff
Key Areas of Accountability:
Specific Duties:
- Develop and implement a system for reviewing and troubleshooting data queries based on the implementation plan.
- Maintain a user-friendly system for capturing and documenting data and relevant information on project activities, beneficiaries, outputs, outcomes, and impacts, ensuring the information is valid and reliable.
- Compile and disseminate various project reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and presentations. Participate in the initiation and conduct of evaluations, research, and assessments.
- Supervise field-based partner project staff and volunteers within the project impact areas through regular contact, field visits, and meetings, and carry out data quality assurance (DQA).
- Develop and manage the Management Information System (MIS) and relevant tools for the project.
- Produce up-to-date monthly output performance reports.
- Contribute to program updates and internal information sharing for the consortium Manager.
- Conduct regular trend analysis on gathered data from platforms/databases (e.g., PDM, accountability data, program database).
- Collaborate with the project team to establish reporting processes, ensuring all information and data are accurately and promptly collected, documented, and collated.
- Adhere to LABDI policies and practices regarding child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Perform any other duties as required by the line manager within the scope of the role.
- Uphold a strong sense of urgency, be proactive, and results oriented.
- Show commitment to and understanding of child rights, LABDI's aims and principles, humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct, and LABDI's mandate, methodology, and framework for program implementation.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
- A degree in Information Technology, Economics, Computer Studies, Statistics, Demography, or a related field.
Experience & Skills:
Essential:
- Prior experience in humanitarian or development programs, or research roles.
- Previous relevant experience in information sharing, website troubleshooting, or reporting.
- High proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Extensive experience in designing and maintaining management information systems and tools.
- Strong analytical skills and proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, MS Access, and similar statistical software.
- Ability to effectively communicate significant data to program staff and partners in a clear and simple manner.
- Excellent personal and organizational skills, including effective time management, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Capability to develop data collection tools using Kobo Toolbox and other ODK applications.
- Willingness to travel to field locations and work in challenging environments occasionally.
- Ability to work effectively within a multicultural setting.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Sensitivity to political and cultural contexts, demonstrating qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to challenging working conditions.
- Experience in report writing and documentation.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, prioritizing and managing assignments efficiently.
- Experience in knowledge and database management.
